Where it all began.

Cavite National Science High School is known for its academic excellency as well as in the field of performing arts. Speaking of performing arts, the school has its theater group named Dulaang Agham. This group is an all around and the official performing group for theatre in its early years. Throughout its service, it had staged several performances such as stage plays/musical plays and, song performances like bands and dance as well. Strengthening these two types of performances led to the birth of a singing club, which was named LIRIKO, and a dancing club, as well. This dance troupe employs conservatory approach in training, where members enjoy maximum guidance in theatre performances among themselves. This club has, for years, been attaining noteworthy achievements in the field of performing arts both in and out of the school. It has been noted for stupendous staging of arty moves and grooves that paved through the hearts of the crowd.




The dance troupe started off performing folk dances which staged both students and teachers of the school. It was in the year 1996 when interpretative dancing or jazzy move was first introduced to the group. Such use of genre went on just until before 2000 because it was in such year when full blast of blazing talents was set out. The group entered different competitions where they had conquered the stage scene in mass demo, street dancing and Sports Unit Meets. Due to its consistency of first-rate and well applauded performances, it was originally conceived in 2005 by the club adviser to be the production arm of Dulaang Agham. This made the dance troupe official, thus, SALIW was born; “S” for “SAYAW” which will truly bring “ALIW” or entertainment to everyone, besides, that same “S” represents their one and only Alma Mater, their home, “Science” High School.




SALIW is devoted to the staging in its original and translated versions of dances in different genre supported by the powerful and incisive masterworks of professional and promising alumni in theatrical field. Such creation led SALIW’s name to infinity. Performances locally in national media; like LG quiz and Umagang kay Ganda; and internationally through Puerto Azul, Caylabne and SEA Games were only a few of their blunt proofs. Indeed, such experiences made a worthy establishment for SALIW Dance Troupe, a name that has been known to be several horizons beyond others.




From its beginnings, SALIW has continued to be faithful to the vision of its alma mater.
